2011

• HR Green continues to ascend the annual Engineering News Record list of the Top 500 design firms in the United States. ENR recently released its 2011 list of top firms, showing HR Green at number 175. This represents a 30-point leap for HR Green from its 205^th place ranking in 2010.
• HR Green earned the ACEC National Recognition Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies’ Engineering Excellence Awards program for two recent projects in the United States: the Outer Drive Extension Project in Sioux City, Iowa and the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility in the City of Hartley, Iowa. The National Recognition Award is a prestigious distinction honoring projects that demonstrate exceptional achievement in engineering.
• HR Green received six Engineering Excellence Awards from local chapters of the American Council of Engineering Companies: 
  • The South Dakota chapter recognized the City of Harrisburg and HR Green with an ACEC Merit Award for the Lift Station and Force Main Project, which conveys wastewater from Harrisburg to Sioux Falls for treatment.
  • The Illinois chapter honored the Village of Oswego and HR Green with an ACEC Merit Award in the Transportation category for the Orchard Road Widening Project, which converted Orchard Road from a rural roadway to an urban street.
  • The Minnesota chapter recognized the City of Rochester and HR Green with an ACEC Honor Award in its Water & Storm Water category for the Quarry Hill Park Improvements Project, which helped rehabilitate some of the park’s most sensitive natural resources.
  • The Iowa chapter recognized HR Green with three Engineering Achievement Awards. Two projects, the Outer Drive Extension Project in Sioux City and the McCollister Road Bridge Project in Iowa City, were recognized in the Transportation category; HR Green’s design of a new Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility for the City of Fort Madison was honored in the Water category.

• HR Green was named one of the Top 60 AEC firms in Public Works magazine’s annual list of the leading architecture, engineering and construction firms around the nation.
• HR Green was named the top national firm for professional development by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). The firm received NSPE’s Professional Development Award, which is given to a single firm each year through a competitive review process and recognizes the employer who exhibits exceptional career development initiatives and employment practices that advance the engineering profession.
• HR Green advanced 164 spots on ENR’s ranking of the Top 500 Design Firms in the U.S. While consistently ranked among the top 500, this is the highest ranking that the firm has ever received, in part due to the mergers with SEC Group, Inc. in Illinois and Sparks-Barlow-Barnett in Houston, Texas. The Top 500 Design Firms listing is an annual comprehensive survey containing the ranking, by revenue, of the 500 largest engineers, architects and environmental consultants in the United States.
• Mark Mueller named 2010 Engineer of the Year by the Central Iowa Chapter of the Iowa Engineering Society.
