Methane
HR Green is an industry leader in supporting methane natural gas initiatives. Methane is a potent and short-lived greenhouse gas whose emissions currently account for over one-third of today’s atmospheric warming. Landfills, natural gas and petroleum systems, agricultural activities, coal mining, stationary and mobile combustion, wastewater treatment and certain industrial processes have fueled this important energy source.
Solid waste landfills are the largest human-generated source of methane emissions. HR Green has developed over 30 projects in more than 17 states for the beneficial reuse of landfill gas. HR Green is an active project network member of Global Methane Initiative and Landfill Methane Outreach Program industry partner.
